When the British colonised India in the 18th century, their beers often went bad during the long crossing. To remedy this, the British brewers took a good Pale Ale and added more hops, because the essential oils in hops have antibacterial properties.
This is how India Pale Ale was born.
It not only has a stronger hop emphasis, but also a higher alcohol content and is infused with aromas of exotic fruits, citrus or pine.
The complexity of the malts used softens the bitter taste and makes for a well-balanced beer. The Beer Brewing Kit I.P.A. is a great gift for any beer lover.
