Your bonsai deserves the best care – and the right nutrition is key. The Grow Buddha Bonsai Fertiliser is specially formulated for the needs of bonsai trees: a balanced blend of key nutrients and trace elements.
Why Special Bonsai Fertiliser?
Bonsai live in very small pots with limited substrate. Unlike garden trees, they cannot sustain themselves from the soil alone. Regular fertilising is therefore essential – otherwise the tree weakens, the leaves turn yellow and growth stagnates.
Standard plant fertiliser is often too aggressive for bonsai and can burn the delicate fine roots. This fertiliser is gentle, consistent and perfectly dosed.
Seasonal Application Guide
- Spring (March–May): Nitrogen-rich feeding – promotes vigorous growth of new shoots and leaves
- Summer (June–August): Balanced feeding – keeps the tree healthy and vibrant
- Autumn (September–October): Potassium and phosphorus-rich – strengthens winter hardiness and promotes root development
- Winter: Do not fertilise! Outdoor bonsai are dormant. Indoor tropical bonsai only lightly every 4 weeks
Dosage and Tips
- Follow the dosage on the packaging – less is more!
- Apply to moist substrate (never on dry soil – it burns the roots)
- Distribute evenly across the entire surface
- Never fertilise: Sick trees, freshly repotted trees (wait 4–6 weeks), trees with root rot
Suitable for All Bonsai Species
Whether Japanese Maple, Umbrella Pine, Ginkgo, Ficus, Juniper or Elm – this fertiliser provides optimal nutrition for every bonsai. Also suitable for growing kits once the seedlings have developed their first true leaves.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I fertilise?
During the growing season (spring to autumn) every 2–4 weeks. In winter, not at all or only very lightly for indoor tropical bonsai.
Can I use regular plant fertiliser?
Not recommended – standard fertiliser is often too concentrated and can burn the fine bonsai roots. Bonsai fertiliser is milder and specifically formulated.
When should I start fertilising?
As soon as the first new shoots appear in spring. For freshly repotted trees, wait 4–6 weeks.
Does this fertiliser work with my bonsai kit?
Yes – the perfect complement to all our bonsai growing kits. Once your seedling has developed its first true leaves, you can start fertilising.
